Bitmark introduces eight mining algorithms

Historical retrospective compiled on 24 October 2026. Dated to the 20 June 2018 v0.9.7.0 release posting; its notes also carry a 6 June heading.

Evidence: Project release notes and protocol documentation.

Bitmark’s v0.9.7 release series introduced eight proof-of-work algorithms, with the new consensus rules taking effect at block 450,947. The documented set comprised Scrypt, SHA256d, Yescrypt, Argon2d, X17, Lyra2REv2, Equihash and CryptoNight. The release material also described difficulty adjustment tailored to multiple algorithms and a reward mechanism responsive to hashing activity. The change broadened the kinds of mining hardware able to participate. It was an upgrade to the original Bitmark cryptocurrency, not a Bytom development. The release posting date and the precise on-chain activation time should be treated separately.
