Pakcoin attracts attention after Pakistan’s banking restriction
Historical retrospective compiled on 24 October 2026. Dated to Profit’s report of 12 May 2018.
Evidence: Contemporary financial reporting.
Pakistan Today’s Profit reported that Pakcoin had risen by roughly 60 percent following the State Bank of Pakistan’s restriction on regulated institutions facilitating virtual-currency transactions. The report quoted Pakcoin’s founder as attributing increased interest partly to publicity surrounding the restriction. This is an account of a reported market response, not evidence that the restriction legally approved the project or that publicity alone caused the price movement. It illustrates how a regulatory announcement can draw attention to a small cryptocurrency even while limiting conventional banking access. The percentage belongs to the reporting period in 2018, not a current performance claim.
