Bitmark contributors consider changes to mining incentives
Historical retrospective compiled on 24 October 2026. Dated to the Bitmark-related discussion of 15 September 2026.
Evidence: Developer proposals; no activation established.
A September discussion in Argentum’s development thread also examined Bitmark’s mining incentives. A Bitmark contributor argued that making every mining algorithm accept auxiliary proof of work could encourage miners to view Bitmark rewards mainly as a byproduct of work on other currencies. Possible changes included making selected algorithms native-only and reconsidering parts of the existing algorithm lineup. The discussion illustrates a tension between sharing security infrastructure and attracting miners committed to a particular chain. These comments were proposals, not proof of a completed fork, adopted policy or activated consensus change.
