Argentum developers discuss a modern Core client

Historical retrospective compiled on 24 October 2026. Month-end retrospective covering the August 2026 development discussion.

Evidence: Developer discussion; work in progress.

An August 2026 Argentum discussion described work on a client based on Bitcoin Core 26, with all six existing mining algorithms retained in the development version. Contributors also discussed c2pool support, emission-policy proposals and possible SegWit and Taproot activation. The proposed client would modernize the software foundation while raising questions about how much of the existing network’s behavior should change. These messages document development intentions and community debate. They do not establish that a new consensus rule, emission schedule or activation had been adopted by the operating network.
